2022 Cadillac XT5 Heated Rear Seat Unavailability Resolved

A few months ago, the ongoing global shortage of microchips forced the availability of heated seats to be limited to certain Cadillac models, including the XT5. Cadillac Society since learning that the unavailability of heated rear outboard seats in the 2022 Cadillac XT5 has been resolved, with the feature returning to the luxury crossover.

For the 2022 Cadillac XT5, heated outboard rear seats (production code KA6), has been limited since 15 Novemberth2021 production. However, this feature is now available again on 21 Februaryst2022 production.

Rear heated seats are only included as part of the tri-zone automatic climate control package, available as an additional $1,200 on the XT5 Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels. This feature cannot be equipped as a standalone option, and is not available at all on the base Luxury trim level.

While the heated rear outboard seats have returned to the XT5, other features still remain unclear as semiconductor shortages persist. These include a heated steering wheel, front and rear parking assist features, along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wireless functions. At the moment, it’s still unclear when these features will return.

Cadillac shows that it will be able reinstall certain components, such as heated seats, on vehicles manufactured without them at a later date. However, as with other features missing from the XT5, it’s unclear when this could happen.

As a reminder, the Luxury and Premium Luxury trim levels of the 2022 Cadillac XT5 are equipped with a turbocharged 2.0L I4 engine (production code LSY) as standard, which produces 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The naturally aspirated 3.6L V6 engine (production code LGX), with 310 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque, is optional on the Premium Luxury trim and standard on the Sport trim. Both engine options are mated to a Cadillac nine-speed automatic transmission, either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
