2022 Cadillac Escalade Rear Seat Media System Constrained

The rear seat entertainment system is no longer offered at certain trim levels of the 2022 Cadillac Escalade. Cadillac Society has learned.

The Rear Seat Media System (production code UW9) can no longer be equipped on the Escalade Premium Luxury and Sport trim levels. When available in this trim, the system adds $1,995 to the overall price of the vehicle. Additionally, this system will continue to be included as standard on the higher Premium Luxury Platinum and Sport Platinum trim levels. This system is not offered on the Luxury (basic) trim level.

It’s not clear what caused Cadillac to no longer offer this feature on the Premium Luxury and Sport models, or whether retrofitting could be an option in the future. The lack of availability on the two trims mentioned above will last through the remainder of the 2022 model year.

The Rear Seat Media System includes a pair of seat-mounted 12.6-inch diagonal HD touch color LCD screens, Wi-Fi wireless projection capability, two sets of Bluetooth headphones, and two HDMI ports on the back of the center console.

However, as we reported a few days ago, the rear seat entertainment system on the 2022 Cadillac Escalade is missing some features, including the ability for rear seat passengers to push point/location requests to the vehicle’s central infotainment screen.

The 2022 Cadillac Escalade Premium Luxury Platinum and Sport Platinum are the only full-size SUVs produced by Cadillac’s parent company, General Motors, to still include the Rear-Seat Media System. The GMC Yukon, along with the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, will no longer be offered with an entertainment system at any trim level for the remainder of the 2022 model year.
