GMC Hummer EV Gets A Green Kevlar Makeover From SoFlo Customs

For those who find the GMC Hummer EV a little too bland, the folks at South Florida Customs (SoFlo) have a very eco-friendly solution. In this case, green does not refer to an eco-friendly upgrade. The aftermarket company literally turned the super-large electric truck into a matte green Kevlar-coated machine. The end result is called SoFlo Strikeforce.

It’s certainly striking with its textured green paint job and contrasting gold wheels. The exterior wears an epoxy coating consisting of Kevlar fibers, the same material used in bulletproof vests. SoFlo Customs doesn’t mention that the upgraded Hummer EV is impervious to bullets, but the company says the coating deflects rocks, tree branches, and any “off-road projectile.”

Speaking of off-road, the Strikeforce gets four inches of lift and 38-inch tires with custom 20-inch wheels. This adds to the ground clearance already available in the stock Hummer EV, and the upgrade doesn’t affect its ability to CrabWalk. The changes also don’t affect sprints to 60 mph, which still happen in about three seconds when using Watts To Freedom (WTF) mode. Since the change occurs in the only Hummer EV trim level currently on sale, there’s 1,000 horsepower available from its multi-motor powertrain.

Inside, the Hummer also gets a distinct visual upgrade with a brown marine-grade interior. In this case, marine grade means resistance to water and the elements versus the greenhouse compliant US Marines. The seats and door panels receive a coated surface, and the color is just as distinctive inside as out.

“I am so proud to introduce our version of the ugliest factory truck on the planet – the Hummer EV,” said Joseph Ghattas, owner, engineer and chief designer of SoFlo Customs. “While nothing sounds like a Hemi Hellcat just dropped in one of our Jeeps, this Hummer EV delivers gripping steering power to an unprecedented level. It was such a fun project that we have already ordered a second and third Hummer EV to continue our Strikeforce conversion.”

Going green with the GMC Hummer EV will also set you back a little green. SoFlo Customs says the Kevlar-coated off-roader has a starting price of $219,999.
