BMW X5 M Makes 800 HP With G-Power Upgrade Using Carbon Body Kit

The BMW X5 M is an SUV that bridges practicality with performance, wrapping it in a fun package. However, G-Power likes to up the ante, increasing power and style on an already strong range of makes and models. The tuner’s latest creation is the new X5 M Typhoon S, which provides a visual makeover for a sporty vehicle and significantly more power than the standard variant.

The standard X5 M isn’t weak by any measure, producing 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts) and 553 pound-feet (749 Newton-meters) of torque. It can produce 617 hp (460 kW) in Competition trim, but that’s well below what the G-Power gets from the tuned model.

The X5 M Typhoon S increases the output of the 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine to 800 hp (596 kW). G-Power achieves these crazy power numbers with a number of powertrain upgrades. One of the more significant improvements is a larger turbocharger which increases boost pressure. The larger turbo features a compressor, turbine wheel and larger housing.

A stainless steel tuner exhaust, connected to the G-Power downpipe, also helps increase output, reducing exhaust temperature and exhaust back pressure. G-Power finished off the system with carbon-coated exhaust pipes.

G-Power pairs the Typhoon’s extra strength with visual enhancements on the outside. The high-powered SUV features the tuner’s nine-piece carbon aerodynamic kit, which adds a new front spoiler, wheel arch extensions, side skirts, rear diffuser and rear spoiler. G-Power also upgraded the wheels to 23-inch Hurricane RR spinners, while height-adjustable coil springs lowered the SUV by 40 and 45 millimeters (1.57 and 1.77 inches) front and rear, respectively. This radically changes the appearance of the SUV.

G-Power’s new BMW X5 M Typhoon S is the latest example to debut in the series. G-Power previously launched the X5 M and X6 M Typhoon models more than a decade ago. The latest example keeps the tuner’s nameplate alive with a new iteration that makes more power than ever, pairing extra horsepower and torque with a stylish body kit.
