Ducati risks losing one of its best riders in the MotoGP class. Yamaha tries to tempt Jorge Martin for 2024.
It will still be a Ducati with eight points on the grid for the season MotoGP 2023, but the factory team can only accommodate two riders. Alongside Pecco Bagnaia will be Enea Bastianini, who won the long ballot with Jorge Martin to the tune of victories. In fact, the rider from Romagna collected four victories and closed the season in third place in the final standings, but the Madrilenian recalls having done better than his brand colleague in 2021.
Despite some discontent after the choice of the top management of Borgo Panigale, Jorge Martin it was kept good by guaranteeing it equal economic and technical treatment with the ‘Beast’. The only difference will be the color of the livery, that of the Pramac team for the Spanish rider. For the rest, he won’t change anything, but it might not be enough to lock down the Madrid talent: in fact, in his contract there is a clause in which at the end of 2023 he could leave the team Paul Campinoti no problem.

Every MotoGP rider’s dream is to join a factory team and this option could present itself in the coming months. In fact, Yamaha will have to decide the future of by the summer Franco Morbidelli, whose contract expires in a year. If the desired results do not arrive, the Iwata company could turn to Jorge Martin, with whom talks have already begun. On the other hand, staying in a leading satellite team like Pramac could prove to be a winning option for the Iberian rider, who won’t have the same pressure as Bagnaia and Bastianini.
Paolo Campinoti has a dream in his heart, to lead a satellite team to win the World Cup. If we consider the supremacy of Ducati Desmosedici GP, the goal is not impossible. Yamaha could offer him a contract in the factory team for the two-year period 2024-2025 if things don’t go well with Franco Morbidelli.
