Cadillac Escalade Rear-Seat Media System Loses Features For 2022

Cadillac will retain some features of the rear seat entertainment system on the Cadillac Escalade for the remainder of the 2022 model year, Cadillac Society confirmed.

The Rear Seat Media System (production code UW9) was introduced on the Cadillac Escalade for the 2021 model year. It is equipped as standard on the upscale 2022 Cadillac Escalades in the Premium Luxury Platinum or Sport Platinum trim levels, but is not available on the corresponding Premium Luxury and Sport Escalade trim levels. is under the Platinum model.

The Rear Seat Media System includes a pair of 12.6-inch diagonal HD touch color LCD screens mounted on the back of the front seats, Wi-Fi wireless projection capability, two sets of Bluetooth headphones, and two HDMI ports located on the back of the seat. center console. While the aforementioned equipment is retained for the 2022 Cadillac Escalade Platinum trim level, the Rear Seat Media System loses some of the features previously offered in 2021. For example, the navigation function is no longer included. This feature allows rear seat passengers to view the vehicle’s geographic location on a map, search for points of interest along the route, and push navigation/location requests to the vehicle’s central infotainment screen.

Additionally, the on-screen USB-C port is now charge-only, and no longer supports streaming from devices connected via a wired connection. What’s more, Miracast’s screen mirroring feature has also been removed, meaning passengers can no longer project their device’s screen onto a seat-mounted monitor.

Interestingly, another modification made to the Rear-Seat Media System is that the included set of Bluetooth headphones will not be shipped to customers already paired to the Escalade. Instead, the vehicle owner must pair the headphones themselves using the instructions provided in the vehicle owner’s manual.
