The Aston Martin DBX and Lamborghini Urus are some of the fastest crossovers you can buy today. These luxurious performance racers have also faced the drag strip before. Italy came home victorious that day thanks to a substantial strength advantage.
Both crossovers have a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 under the hood. At the time, the DBX was packing 542 horsepower (405 kilowatts) and 516 pound-feet (700 Newton-meters) of torque from an AMG-sourced engine. But the Urus puts out 641 horsepower (478 kilowatts) and 627 pound-feet (850 Newton-meters) of torque. Aston Martin couldn’t overcome the power deficit against Lamborghini.
But instead of returning with the same engine, the DBX is back on the drag strip with more muscle under the hood. While it still has the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine, the Aston now has 697 horsepower (520 kilowatts) and 664 pound-feet (900 Newton-meters) of torque. Because of this, this DBX is called the 707 due to its 707 PS metric horsepower rating.
This time, it was Lamborghini who was behind. It lost 56 horsepower (41.7 kilowatts) and 37 pound-feet (50 Newton-meters) of torque to the Briton. Granted, the Urus is lighter, but maybe not enough to beat Aston Martin this time around.
The drag race was run in wet conditions, but the results were consistent. Aston Martin finally outperformed Lamborghini. DBX was ahead of Urus by three tenths of a second in a quarter mile run and drifted away when the race hit the one mile mark. In a rolling drag race, Urus tries to keep up with DBX; the latter’s horsepower advantage meant Lambo had to play second fiddle. There was one challenge where Urus beat DBZ fairly and honestly, but you have to watch the video to find out where he won.
