Changing the battery is sometimes a problem, especially if it’s your first experience and you don’t know where to put your hands.
But be careful, because there is a way that allows us to do it and overcome the difficulties relating to the replacement, which allows you to avoid creating significant damage.
Changing the battery is something that all motorists must be ready to do at any time. So you need to be properly informed and prepared in a way, in order not to make mistakes of any kind.
Remove the battery and reassemble
The first thing to do is to apply the parking brake, this thing is very important for obvious safety reasons. Then the equipment is shut down and remove the ignition key from the electrical panel. Then you go and find the location of the battery, perhaps by consulting the car’s instruction manual and reading the manufacturers’ recommendations which can sometimes be life-saving.
At this point the clamp is disconnected with the minus sign using the appropriate key, immediately after the second is disconnected with the plus sign also in this case using its key or by hand because it could also be quick release. Then remove the bracket that locks the battery.
It is generally thought that the new battery is already charged, but it is wrong because the voltage is usually not less than 12.4 volts, but this is not necessarily the case. So the advice is to always recharge it before assembling it and then do some tests. What is important to do is remove whatever is blocking the battery and then check that there is no oxide or corrosion in the terminals. At this point the tension of the alternator belt is checked. Then the battery is installed.
How to mount the battery and understand if the installation went well
To mount the battery, screw the first clamp, then the one with the plus sign, then the second is screwed in with a minus sign in the same way as the first. The battery is mounted making sure that the cover, protections and pipes removed have been put back in their place.
Finally, the ignition is closed and turned on with the key, then trying to accelerate slowly. Only at this point can you understand if everything is working properly and therefore if battery installation was successful.
