It is safe to say that the presentation of Stellantis’ strategic plan “Dare Forward 2030” is full of interesting information. We’ve learned that the European auto conglomerate will abandon combustion engines in passenger cars by 2030. The EV mix in the United States will reach 50 percent in eight years from now. Additionally, CEO Carlos Tavares said the muscle car Dodge is working on for 2024 will “make sounds you can’t imagine.”
But we’re barely scratching the surface because the resulting merger between FCA and PSA has a busy power schedule ahead. Take the United States for example where more than 25 BEVs will be out by 2030. One of these is the baby SUV Jeep that was teased yesterday as the first model from the American brand to eliminate the combustion engine. It will go on sale in 2023, with two additional zero-emissions models coming a year later.
Arriving in 2024 will be “Pure Offroad UV” joining the “Lifestyle Family SUV.” As shown above, the former was actually teased last year during Stellantis EV days. It will drive one of four dedicated electric vehicle platforms that parent company Stellantis is working on. As the name suggests the STLA Frame will be used by large pickups and truck-based SUVs with a range of about 500 miles (800 kilometers). To make this happen, the vehicle will feature battery packs with capacities varying from 159 to over 200 kWh.
A large Jeep SUV without a petrol engine should be mechanically linked to the 2024 Ram 1500 because that too will sit on the STLA Frame architecture. If an adjacent teaser is any indication, it will have a box style with a tailgate-mounted spare wheel and possibly three-row seating. Four-wheel drive is provided, meaning there will be one electric motor on the front axle and the other driving on the rear.
Details about another electric Jeep SUV coming in 2024 are not available, but logic tells us it will be smaller. Maybe it will ride the STLA Large architecture. This will bee is good for a model that will cover 500 miles (800 kilometers) on a 101 to 118 kWh package.
