Buy Jerry Seinfeld’s Former Porsche Carrera GT, See What The Deal Is

The Porsche Carrera GT is a very rare supercar. Only 1,270 units were built over the four years from 2004 to 2007. When they were new, these cars were priced at around $450,000, but time was friendly with the GT. It’s not uncommon to see prices hit $1 million when one pops up for sale, but this special Porsche sale at Bring A Trailer has a particularly high-profile celebrity connection in the form of Jerry Seinfeld.

According to auction listings, Seinfeld purchased this 2004 Carrera GT from Manhattan Motor Cars in New York City in January 2005. It reportedly remained in his collection until 2011, and then went to Oregon. Details about ownership are a bit hazy from there; perhaps, full information is available to potential buyers but auction listings say the current owner got the Porsche not in 2011, but in 2015. It’s currently being offered on consignment at a dealership in San Diego and shows 3,700 miles on the odometer, according to Bring A Trailer.

In case you somehow forgot, the Carrera GT debuted for 2004 with a 5.7-liter V10 engine that sends 605 horsepower (451 kilowatts) to the rear wheels. The mid-engine Porsche was one of the elite supercars of the day, hitting 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds and screaming up to a top speed of over 200 mph. In an age where paddle-shift gearboxes are becoming commonplace, the Carrera GT works with a six-speed stick, positioned very high on the center console.

Will celebrity connections add value to this already prized machine? Seinfeld is almost as famous for his automotive passion as his comedy, and he does have an affinity for Porsche. His long running short series Comedians in Cars Get Coffee includes a Carrera GT appearance with comedy legend Eddie Murphy along the way, but that episode features the silver versus black Porsche model featured here. It also went live in 2019 – years after Seinfeld sold the car it is currently auctioning off.

It’s possible that appearances in the series could add value to the Carrera GT, but simply being a part of Seinfeld’s past seems a again than enough for potential buyers. Bidding has reached $1.7 million with 10 days to go.
