Porsche 911 Hybrid Spied In 21 Pictures Of Snowy Development

Development of the Porsche 911 Hybrid now takes place in the snow, not at the Nürburgring like most spy shots before it. This one uses a slightly different body from the previous vehicle.

There are two examples of the 911 Hybrid in these photos. One of them has a clear electrification warning sign using a sticker with a lightning bolt on it. The other has a simple yellow circle at the base of the driver’s side of the A-pillar.

The body looks identical to what we saw from the spy shots of the updated Porsche 911 Carrera. The front end has a lower fascia with two visible sensors in the center opening. The inlet is wide angle and has a mix of horizontal and vertical slats. Additional lights on each side of the body are for testing purposes only and not for production models.

The rear wears wider camouflage. There is a mesh panel above the engine cover. The entire rear bumper appears to have a cover over it. Plus, the snow adds more concealment to the tail. You can barely see the exhaust pipe coming out of the middle while having a small area separating it.

Surprisingly, the previous 911 Hybrid development vehicle had used the body of the 911 Turbo with an inlet in the rear fender. These holes are not visible on the car in these photos, even after zooming in for camouflage.

Spy shots and previous videos also show testing the vehicle with a dark area for the rear of the side windows. This led to speculation that they only had two seats. The rear headrest is visible on the vehicle in the photo for this story. These details are hard to see with certainty.

Porsche Italia CEO Pietro Innocenti told Motor1 Italy during a press conference that the 911 Hybrid will be debuting soon. However, he did not give the exact time. This model is not a plug-in hybrid and uses technology derived from the 919 Hybrid.

There are no exact powertrain details about the 911 Hybrid yet. Previous rumors suggest that Porsche intends to prioritize power over improving fuel efficiency for the model. There are reports that its output can reach 700 horsepower (522 kilowatts).
