As part of Stellantis’ massive presentation of its Dare Forward 2030 strategy, the company offered the first teaser images of a new battery-electric vehicle for the Jeep brand. The automaker isn’t going into too much detail at this point but says the crossover EV will launch in early 2023.
We only have two images of the Jeep EV, but the images reveal few details about the vehicle. The overall styling has similar proportions to the current Jeep Compass. However, this vehicle has separate headlights with a grille section that separates the running lights at the top from the headlights at the bottom.
The grille is closed but has a simulated version of the Jeep’s seven-aperture front end. There’s a subtle blue line along the bottom and a lowercase “e” on the right side. It’s not clear from the image whether the narrow opening in the center of the front end is for display or just for display.
Fog lights are visible on the lower fascia. In the middle, there is a hexagonal net and the sensor is in the middle of this section.
Along the wing, fender flares protrude from the body. The pleats above add accent to their look. Body cladding is around the wheel holes and side sills. The Jeep has hidden rear door handles that blend into the black section of the C-pillar.
The rear has an X-shaped element in the taillights with a black body part that forms part of the rear hatch. Another “e” logo is visible on the lower left side. The rear bumper has black cladding all over the lower body. The silver element is at the very bottom. As an EV, there is no need for exhaust pipes.
The Jeep EV will go into production in November 2022 at the factory in Tychy, Poland, according to European Automotive News citing the Stellantis document. The same factory will also produce a small Fiat crossover from April 2023. The Alfa Romeo version of this product is allegedly awaiting approval for production.
The three models use the Compact Modular Platform which has been used by several Citroen, Opel, and Peugeot products. according to European Automotive News Reports, the Jeep has the codename Project 516. It will be launched with a petrol engine. The EV goes into production in February 2023, and the mild hybrid variant begins assembly in January 2024.
The plant is expected to build 110,000 units of the Jeep model per year. It will be the smallest vehicle of the brand in the US, occupying a place below the Renegade, European Automotive News report.
