Ford Everest Raptor Could Happen One Day If There’s Enough Demand

Ford introduced the Ranger Raptor a week ago before launching the new Everest today, so we’re pretty sure some people are wondering if the two will ever be combined. The short answer is definitely probably because Blue Oval is currently unable to commit to the Everest Raptor. Ford kept his options open as if there were no immediate plans, it could happen one day.

Talk with Motor1.com At the Everest’s debut, we asked the global chief engineer of the T6 platform, Ian Foston, if the SUV would get a quicker maintenance. He said it wasn’t on the agenda for now but Blue Oval could change its mind if there was enough customer interest to warrant a production version.

If it goes any further, the Everest Raptor will likely use the same 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 as the Ranger Raptor. Inside the truck, the petrol engine produces 392 horsepower (292 kilowatts) and 430 pound-feet (583 Newton-meters) of torque. In comparison, the Bronco Raptor will have over the 400 hp already available on the Explorer ST where the 3.0-liter unit produces 415 lb-ft (563 Nm).

It should be noted that the Ranger Raptor is once again coming to Europe, but with a large power deficit due to stricter emission regulations. The version to be sold on the Old Continent will only produce 288 hp (215 kW) and 362 lb-ft (491 Nm) from the same twin-turbo V6 engine. The Everest has never been sold in Europe and we don’t expect that to change with the new body-on-frame SUV.

It doesn’t look like it’s going to be that hard for Ford to “tidy up” Everest since the mechanically linked Ranger has been given a performance treatment. However, it all depends on whether there is enough interest to make a viable business case. We’d definitely buy one over the Explorer or Edge, but as the saying goes, different strokes for different people. Seeing as the glass is half full, at least the US and Canada will get their hands on a Ranger Raptor in 2023.
