The new RS 660 Extrema is the great Aprila novelty for EICMA 2022: but there is also a concept designed for the electric market.
EICMA 2022 was the theater for the presentation of the new one Aprilia RS 660 Extrema, a new version of the historic street sports bike that surprises with its incredible lightness. However, great attention was also paid to a new electric model, which aims at the eco-sustainable market.
But let’s go in order. We know that Aprila RS 660 has achieved sales that have satisfied the Italian manufacturer: this has led the manufacturer to present the new Extrema line, which stands out for its an incredible weight of only 166 kg. The merit is to be found in the standard components, which focuses on refinement and lightness.
In this sense, the innovative exhaust system approved by SC Project stands out, with the carbon terminal positioned on the right side of the bike: previously it was located under the engine. But it is just one of the gimmicks designed to give this new two-wheeler the very light weight we talked about.
Aprila has worked carefully to meet this particular requirement: therefore, both the front fender and the new tip under the engine have been produced in carbon. The fact that it is a version also contributes to everything single-seater: in any case, the passenger seat is supplied, even if it does not appear very comfortable.
As for the electronics there are no surprises, in a positive sense, considering that nothing is missing: traction control, ABS cornering, engine brake, engine mapping and much more.
To complete the picture, there is also a software designed to configure the quick shift in gearbox inverted configuration. This allows you to have a completely autonomous configuration by choosing between the road or inverted version, the latter ideal if you drive on the track. The two-cylinder engine has an output of around 100 hp.

The reason of interest in the presentation of Aprilia for EICMA 2022 was represented by electrical concept designed for the mobility of the youngest of the future. The Italian manufacturer commented: “It is a window open to tomorrow, an attentive and competent look forward that Aprilia, which has always been at the forefront of experimentation, offers the new generations to guarantee them fun riding a motorcycle in any environment and without barriers.“
Being a concept, it is still too early to go into detail, but the house speaks of one very light bike and of course with zero emissions and which was also born thanks to the experience gained through the Piaggio group, which has been active in the electricity sector for some time.
The electric motor is located in the central area of the bike and is managed by a final chain transmission. Among other things, keyless technology, fully digital instrumentation and active electronic aids to support driving.
