Here’s a brief timeline of the Nissan Z so far. In May 2020 the world got its first official teaser that yes, a new Nissan sports car is coming. Jump ahead a few months to September 2020, where we see the Z Proto revealed. Nissan says it’s a near-production prototype, and it’s very near production. When the official Z finally broke the cover almost a year after that – in August 2021 – it was a virtual clone for Proto.

Now, we will enter March 2022 and Z . 400-horsepower permanent none of us. Nissan is a bit shy about committing to a sales date, but Nissan dealerships may have forced the automaker. Recent posts on Nissan Z . new The forum claims to show a timeline coming from an unnamed Nissan dealer, outlining the next few months for the Z. If accurate, production will begin in March with sales starting in June.

The longer answer offers a bit more detail, but doesn’t pertain to a specific date. The alleged timeline shows the pre-launch period we are in now. That certainly goes along with Nissan’s elaborate Super Bowl commercial which prominently features the Z in an action-style movie. Following the start of production in March comes the media first drive in April, and that could line up with the New York Auto Show scheduled for April 15-24. Nissan’s North America field meeting is listed on the timeline for May, followed by sales in June and a marketing campaign launched in August.

Motor1.com contacted Nissan in hopes of confirming the information, but the automaker has not commented on the information.

We know the new Z will go on sale this year. That’s for sure, but with semiconductor shortages still plaguing the entire auto industry, specifying a specific timeframe for Z production can be easier said than done. Add in the global consequences of Russia invading Ukraine and there is bound to be some volatility in the auto market right now. If our first look at the Z Proto is any indication, however, it should be a delicious performance machine worth the wait.
