2022 Kia EV6 Wins Car Of The Year Award In Europe

The Kia EV6 is Car of the Year, which is an award that allows automotive journalists from 23 European countries to choose the best new vehicle from the last 12 months. Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the jury decided not to count the votes of the Russian delegation. In announcement of this decisionorganizers say that this vote will not change the ranking of the winner or runner-up.

The Kia EV6 won this year’s award by scoring 279 points from the judges. It beats the Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric by 265 points. Hyundai Ioniq 5 finished third with 261 points. The other finalists were the Peugeot 308 with 191 points, the Skoda Enyaq with 185 points, the Ford Mustang Mach-E with 150 points, and the Cupra Born with 144 points.

This is the first time Kia has won the Car of the Year award. In Europe’s WLTP rankings, EVs are capable of running as far as 528 kilometers (328 miles at a cost). The brand offers models in various forms. For example, there are 58.0- and 77.4-kilowatt-hour battery options. Rear and all wheel drive layouts available.

“Excellent EV due to fast charging and good price range. Compared to Hyundai, EV6 offers less body roll, more pleasant handling, and tighter steering. A bit sportier overall,” said a travel member who didn’t know mentioned in Car of the Year winner announcement.

In the US, the EV6 is also available with 58.0- and 77.4-kWh batteries. The smaller package on the rear-wheel drive model has: EPA estimates range of 232 miles (373 kilometers). The larger one increases the distance to 310 miles (499 kilometers).

The all-wheel-drive version is only available with a 77.4-kWh battery. With two electric motors, the output is 320 horsepower (239 kilowatts). The downside of the extra power is that the estimated range drops to 274 miles (441 kilometers).

By the end of 2022, the EV6 lineup in the US expanded to include GT models. It also has a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive layout, but power output grows to 576 horsepower (430 kilowatts). This allows the model to reach 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in less than 3.5 seconds.
