The times for the license renewal are getting longer: why do you have to wait up to three months longer than before?
Be careful if you have to renew your driving license because the bureaucratic times are really getting longer. The usual problem of bureaucracy in Italy forces us to be very cautious if the expiration of ours driving license it is approaching and we do not want to be forced to travel on foot or by public transport.
What are the reasons for this delay? Is it really worth worrying? Perhaps it is not the case for excessive alarmism, but the fact is that, yes, something is jamming and this forces us to act promptly to avoid unpleasant unforeseen events, especially if we have no alternatives to the car.
The various reports that are arriving from all over Italy invite us to pay close attention and honestly charge us with a bit of anxiety. We can tell you, for example, aboutepisode of Giulioa disabled boy and student of the Physics department at the “La Sapienza” University of Rome.
License renewal, why do we have to wait longer now?
Giulio needs to overcome one of the most annoying obstacles to face in the license renewal phase: the medical examination. A complicated path for everyone, especially for those in his medical condition.
The boy is in fact suffering from a serious physical disability that forces him to go to the university exclusively by car. His driver’s license it will expire on December 7thbut risks living a real odyssey because the response to his request for a medical examination was chilling: full lists until February 2023.
In fact, we must not forget what the Highway Code provides in case you are “caught” driving with an expired driving license. Article 126, paragraph 11 tells us that the fine can start from 155 up to 624 euroswith a variable amount depending on various factors.
Not to mention that, having received the fine, you would certainly not be allowed to circulate, but rather the immediate withdrawal of the license and all the problems that would arise from it.
The student who is the protagonist of this story is already living in a particular situation because, due to medical needs, its license should be renewed every 18 months. The long times communicated to him by the ASL of reference, however, risk complicating things for the next few months, unless he arrives at a solution.
The only advice currently received by the relevant authorities is that of try to travel to another region to evaluate whether the waiting lists are more streamlined and allow you to complete the process on schedule.
However, it is not said that elsewhere the situation is better, because what it filters is that throughout Italy there are difficulties in obtaining a visit quickly. For this reason, the advice is to move well in advance to avoid having unpleasant surprises in view of the license renewal.
