From January 2023 the cost of road fines will increase. As if the increases in all sectors were not enough, the penalties for transgressors of road rules will also increase. But why will this increase in fines be witnessed? Here are all the reasons!
For several months we have been witnessing price increases in every sector. As a result of the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, there have been increases in all sectors. People have also seen the cost of electricity and gas bills triple. But in general, a little bit of everything has increased – from groceries to fuel!
Precisely in reference to the expensive fuel, only the move by the government to cut excise duties from the cost of diesel and gasoline has put a small brake on the incredible surge since March of this year. Nevertheless, the prices are much higher than what we used to see previously!
But from 2023 there will also be another increase. And it refers to road sanctions! Already being notified of a fine at home is not exactly an unpleasant experience, but from January 2023 it will be even worse! Indeed, the cost of the penalties will increase automatically, due to an adaptation of the Highway Code which takes place on average every two years. But why does this happen?
Increased cost of sanctions: that’s why this will happen from January 2023!
The cost of road fines will rise due to a specific Istat parameter, called Foi ‘. This parameter refers to the national consumer price index for blue-collar and white-collar families! The increase will happen due to the high inflation of the last few months!
The increase is expected to be 11.4%. Practically, a simple parking ban could go from the current 42 euros to the possible 47 euros! For higher fines it is clear that the increase will be even greater!
This increase is, as mentioned, foreseen by the Highway Code, but there are already many protests about it. The hope is that at least for the next year this increase will be blocked, to allow a little breathing space to the pockets of the Italians at least in this respect!
Some time ago he made himself heard loudly Giordano Biserni, president of ASAPS, the Association of supporters and friends of the traffic police. Indeed, he he had appealed to the state against this automatic increase in road fines.
These are his words: “Given that we are, obviously as always, for compliance with the Highway Code and for legality, we must remember how today, faced with a truly critical economic situation, post-emergency Covid, with a terrible situation for increases in bills and prices in general, due to the conflict in Ukraine there is a risk that the fines will remain Manzonian cries “.
Biserni continued: “These increases will exasperate motorists and will never be paid or only minimally, as demonstrated by the drop in collections from the state budget and local authorities, in the matter of voluntary collection “.
