The Highway Code provides for a very severe fine if you commit this action behind the wheel: it is much more widespread than you think.

The Highway Code can be very strict at times, facing fines and penalties that we thought could not even exist. It happens more than we want to admit: there are infringements that we all commit a bit, either out of habit, maybe out of an excess of zeal on the part of the law, but the fact is that in certain situations we really risk a lot.
Mind you, talk about “excess of zeal“It would not even be correct given that the Italian Highway Code was created to protect motorists and anyone on the road, including pedestrians. If on the one hand a penalty may seem too severe to us, on the other we must not forget that the consequences can be far worse. So, better be informed and accept a little extra caution.
We talked about pedestrians not by chance because the punishment object of today’s article concerns precisely weak road users: it will have happened to you several times not to stop in front of the pedestrian crossing because you were in a hurry or thought you had enough space to allow the pedestrian to pass later. On the other hand, in the role of the latter, you will have instead railed against some motorist who did not let you pass when you would have had the right.

Therefore, Is the pawn always right? If he respects the rules, yes, and it is important that those who are driving a vehicle are aware of them.
What does the Highway Code provide if you do not give priority to pedestrians on the crossings
In the case in question, several distinctions should be made. Let’s start with the most common situation: the pedestrian who is crossing the road favored by the traffic lights or by the presence of the pedestrian crossing on the asphalt always has priority.

If in the distance you see a person who is about to enter the roadway using the strips, you have to stop and give him the right of way. There are no cases in which the motorist is right.
Different speech if a somewhat unruly pedestrian decides to cross without crossing the strips. In that case the precedence of him lapses: this does not mean that you have the right to put him under if he decides to do so! Simply make sure it is stationary on the side of the road and, if it is not on the strips, it does not have the right of way. If, on the other hand, he has already launched to cross you will have to arm yourself with patience and stop.
The disabled pedestrian, on the other hand, is always right. She stripes, not stripes, traffic lights and no traffic lights. An invalid, considering also his difficulties, must be given precedence in any situation.

Drivers of motor vehicles must therefore pay close attention distinguishing between these cases: but what exactly are they risking? Fines for non-compliance with the right of pedestrian precedence are regulated by article 191 of the Highway Code and include one administrative fine that can reach up to 665 euros with the deduction from four to eight points on the driving license.
Be careful though, because even undisciplined pedestrians can be fined: in that case the cost is lower e it goes from 26 to 102 euros. Prudence and respect yes, therefore, but whether you are a pedestrian or a motorist always remember to follow the regular rights of way.
