The Musical Come To Broadway, Teaser Released

Car-crazy or not, it’s safe to say the 80s hit trilogy “Back to the Future” was so popular, it was already cemented in the history of world entertainment. The film that catapulted the Delorean DMC-12 into pop culture stardom had garnered a huge following, which spawned a conceptualized musical in early 2012.

And now, “Back to the Future: The Musical” is heading to Broadway, with early details shown through a short teaser featuring the main theatrical cast – and the original cast from the film.

We are talking about Christopher Lloyd, who originally played Doc Emmett Brown in the film. The musical Emmett Brown, played by Roger Bart, has a short skit with Lloyd in the teaser clip at the top of this page, courtesy of Theater, revealing details of the show’s upcoming Broadway debut. Of course, the DeLorean DMC-12 warms up the set as the most important part of the plot.

For the record, “Back to the Future: The Musical” opens in London in September 2021 (official trailer below), with shows still taking place at the West End Theater until 2023.

In the United States, the musical will come to Broadway’s Winter Park Theater in Summer 2023. Shows will begin on June 30, 2023, with opening night taking place on August 3. Hugh Coles will reprise his role as George McFly in the Broadway version alongside Bart. The rest of the cast will be announced at a later date.

The musical will have music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard, along with a book by Bob Gale – all based on an original screenplay by Robert Zemeckis and Gale. It will also feature additional songs from the film, including “The Power of Love” and “Johnny B. Goode.”

If you’re interested in reliving the BTTF days in music mode, American Express ticket pre-sale is now available. The general sale date will begin on October 28 at 10:00 a.m. ET.
