Ferrari on pole with Sainz, LeClerc 2nd and penalized

Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari will start ahead of everyone in the 2022 US GP in Austin. The Spaniard preceded the other Ferrari driver, Charles LeClerc, penalized by ten positions.

It’s a red night in Austin, Texas for qualifications of the Formula One United States Grand Prix. In fact, the two Ferraris finished ahead of everyone at the end of qualifying: the fastest was the Spaniard Carlos Sainz who stopped the time in 1’34 ″ 356.

In second position Charles LeClerc in 1’34 ″ 421, which will however be penalized by ten places on the starting grid for having replaced turbo and engine. In the first row he will therefore start Max Verstappen on Red Bell, while behind him there will be the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton And George Russellwho take advantage of the five-place penalty for Sergio Perez.

To close the top ten here Lance Stroll, Lando Norris, Fernando Alonso And Valtteri Bottasat the end of a session that did not give sensational surprises.

As we have said, it was therefore Carlos Sainz who positioned himself in front of everyone at the end of qualifying for the United States Grand Prix. The biggest surprises of the official tests came in Q1with the exclusion of Daniel Ricciardo on McLaren and di Esteban Ocon on Alpine.

There start of the 2022 United States Grand Prix of Formula One is set for 21 Italian time on Sunday 23 October. The first row will therefore be composed of Sainz and Verstappen, followed by Hamilton, Russell and gradually all the others. For LeClerc and Perez the penalties to be served: they will be twelfth and ninth respectively.
