GMC Hummer Medium Truck Under Consideration: Report

At 216.8 inches (5,507 millimeters) long and 86.7 inches (2,202 mm) wide, the GMC Hummer truck is anything but small. It also weighs about the same as the moon, weighing in at over 9,000 pounds (over 4,000 kilograms). But what if General Motors introduced a smaller electric pickup? Healthy, Automotive News citing people familiar with GM’s agenda about the prospect of a more compact Hummer.

This is allegedly under consideration and a design concept has been created at the automaker’s California studio. A claims the project is likely to get the green light because it is labeled as a priority project by higher-ups. However, GM has bigger fish to fry at this point by increasing production of the big Hummer and gearing up for the arrival of the SUV in early 2023.

The smaller truck will have a greater chance of entering the European market where the full size version is too big for the narrower roads of the Old Continent. Contacted by AA spokesman for GMC’s truck division, Mikhael Farah, declined to comment on the possibility of a downsized Hummer. If approved, the mid-size truck will scale back the larger version, which starts at $110,000. Despite the six-figure price tag, the electric car has already garnered more than 90,000 orders, prompting GM to temporarily halt sales.

The midsize Hummer will follow in the footsteps of the H2 that was launched 20 years ago. As you’ll remember, there was also an H3 before the brand was issued. The electric revival is GM’s first product on the Ultium platform, which also supports GMC’s Sierra EV, Cadillac’s Lyriq and Celestiq, Chevrolet’s Silverado EV, Equinox EV, and Blazer EV, along with Honda’s Prolog and Acura ZDX equivalents.

GM is spending a whopping $35 billion to bring no less than 30 EVs to market by 2025. It remains to be seen if the smaller Hummer truck is one of them, but cheaper and easier-to-live alternatives appear to be a matter of time. than if.
