The days of the supercharged Hellcat V8 are numbered, but don’t tell Hennessey that. In the midst of Dodge’s recent special launch Last call This monster model comes from a Texas tuning shop. It’s called – a deep breath – The Hennessey HPE1000 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Widebody Jailbreak. And by the time you read it, it’s going to be going over 100 mph or squirting a huge amount of rubber. Or both.
You know the practice at Hennessey. Take fast cars, add more power and make them go faster. In this case, Hennessey started off with the already capable Widebody Jailbreak Challenger that was packed with 807 horsepower. The supercharger was massaged, pulleys replaced, new headers and exhaust bolted on, there were new intakes, new fuel injectors, and engine tunes to make it all work together. The end result is 1,000 horsepower, 948 pound-feet of torque, and a very nasty-sounding V8 soundtrack.
HPE1000 isn’t new to the Hennessey lineup, but it’s the first time we’ve seen it implemented on a Jailbreak. Launching towards the end of 2021, Jailbreak introduces a bunch of color combos and other customizations not available on other Challenger models. It also brings the Hellcat V8 to 807 hp, giving it a slight edge over the standard Hellcat Redeye. At 1,000 hp, Hennessey has clearly taken it to the next level while offering peace of mind with a two-year, 24,000-mile warranty on the package.
Of course, Dodge is gearing up to send the current generation Challenger and its Hemi V8 into the sunset. Detroit automaker announces seven Last call models in August – the Challenger and Charger special editions are mostly based on the naturally aspirated Scat Pack trim with 485 hp. Numbers five and six, however, stepped into Redeye Widebody territory with the 807-hp Hellcat Hemi.

As for number seven, it is still a mystery. It was supposed to debut at the 2022 SEMA Show but was delayed. Rumor has it it will be a version tuned to develop over 900 hp, making it the most powerful factory-made Dodge Challenger of all, Demon or otherwise.
