The latest spy shot of the Mercedes-AMG G-Class 4×4 Squared captures the muscular SUV wearing light camouflage. The only sizable cover is on the grille and the center of the rear wheel cover.
Mercedes is trying to keep us guessing with the front of the G-Class 4×4 Squared. In the previous spy shot, the grille is actually seen with three sets of double horizontal bars. The vehicle has dark circles around the headlights, rather than the areas that are the color of this car’s body.

Given the shape, the cover over the windshield appears to hide the light bars. Compared to the regular G-Class, the fender flares are wider. The 4×4 Squared also has a skid plate under the front bumper.
Photos showing the SUV from the side highlight the higher ride height compared to the standard G-Class. The roof rack runs all over the top, so there’s plenty of room to tie fixtures there.
The rear has a spare wheel carrier with a tubular steel mount. The ladder provides easy access to the roof rack. The rear bumper is a simple black piece with a circular hole strip inside.
As with the rest of the G-Class lineup, expect power to come from a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8. Tune for the machine is not clear. That makes 416 horsepower (310 kilowatts) in the G550 and 577 hp (430 kW) in the AMG G63.
The previous generation G-Class 4×4 Squared is only available for the 2017 model year in the United States. It featured parts like raised suspension and portal axles. The result is a ground clearance of 17.7 inches (450 millimeters) and a fording depth of 39.3 inches (1,000 mm). The engine produces 416 hp (310 kW).
We expect the new G-Class 4×4 Squared to debut sometime this year. Even so, Mercedes has not given an exact date for the launch of the tough model.
