Lexus Performance Driving School Provides Cool NFT For Graduates

Lexus Performance Driving School (LPDS) promises an amazing experience for anyone who wants to join. Competitors can drive a Lexus RC F, IS 500 F SPORT Performance, and LC 500, aiming to master vehicle control at the 2.24-mile WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, including the famous 10-story Corkscrew drop. This, by itself, should have been worth the money, but Lexus threw something else this 2022 season.

After the track experience last August, Lexus has awarded more than 130 LPDS participants a unique digital token, colloquially known as an NFT (non-fungible token).

As seen in the Lexus driver certificate above, each NFT token contains a personalized 45-second recording, event details, and vehicle data supplied by Toyota Connected, an independent software center of excellence within the larger Toyota ecosystem, rendered on the Polygon platform.

For the record, Polygon is a blockchain platform where participants can print their NFTs permanently. More than 60 guests have printed their NFT onto the Polygon blockchain just days after the event.

LPDS prides itself on being the first place of its kind to provide guests with a living memory package from their high-performance driving experience.

This is a pilot and pilot NFT program for Lexus and the automaker says it has started looking at ways to provide potential benefits to future NFT LPDS owners. This could include access to opportunities related to motorsports or brand engagement. Possible additional grades at future Lexus Performance Driving School dates, including the coveted one-on-one Masterclass.

LPDS was conceived in 2018 and since then has grown to become a popular destination for skilled racers and entry-level daily racers. While the 2022 season has ended, Lexus is already looking forward to the 2023 season with dates and venues yet to be announced.
