Classic Land Rover Series II Gets Restomod Maintenance, Costs $250K

Land Rover has been an off-road icon for decades. The automaker has a strong portfolio today, but it wouldn’t be here if it hadn’t laid the groundwork for its success. That starts with models like the Series II, which could undergo a radical redesign thanks to the Himalaya 4×4. The company offers a range of restoration and restomod models.

Aftermarket specialists made the Series and Defender unlocked, and the new Series II is simply stunning. Finished in light blue, the SUV underwent a substantial redesign to complement it with modern technology. Don’t let the simple design fool you.

Beneath the sheet metal is General Motors’ LV3 V6 engine. Himalaya says that the engine pumps out 300 horsepower (223 kilowatts). It pairs with a GM 6L80-E six-speed automatic gearbox. Tuner also upgraded the SUV with Fox suspension, and the rig uses a coil-sprung chassis. Himalaya tuned the suspension for off-road tracks and installed a Wilwood braking system to stop power.

“Our new open-air Series range is a fantastic rig for warm weather and tropical climates,” said company president Greg Shondel. “The vehicle’s unique aesthetic really stands out and speaks to a certain type of collector.”

The aesthetics of the Land Rover are clean and straightforward. The chopped body features an upright windshield and sharp lines, with a simple interior that complements the build. Himalaya finishes the cabin in durable, high-grade chestnut leather “built to withstand all wet weather.” The open design exposes the interior of the coastal cruiser to inclement weather. Land Rover also uses an integrated Alpine stereo system with Bluetooth connectivity.

A Himalaya 4×4 Land Rover doesn’t come cheap, with prices ranging from $250,000 to $300,000. However, the Himalayas make it worth it, with the new Series IIA models being the perfect representation of the company’s attention to detail. A restomod like this is almost too pristine to get dirty, but the Land Rover is designed to tackle rough and muddy terrain, and the upgrade from the Himalaya 4×4 only helps strengthen its off-road capabilities.
