Audi Might Be Prepping An RSQ6, And Could Look Like This

It’s no secret that Audi will be launching another crossover that will sit under the e-Tron crossover. Dubbed the Q6 e-Tron, the EV is expected for the 2023 model year. But recent developments suggest a high-performance version is coming too.

Per report from motor.es, the Spanish publication found documents showing Audi registered the RSQ6 name. With the ‘RS’ attached to its name, it’s possible that Audi is preparing its first EV crossover. Not only that, the rendering of the EV’s possible performance shows us what it might look like if Audi goes ahead with the plan.

This image is based on the latest spy shots plus design elements from other Audi RS models. That means it gets large angle intakes similar to the RS6 and RS7, along with a closed grille. Oddly enough, the render ditches the separate headlight design seen in the latest batch of spy photos. Of course, this is not the final design, and the actual product may look slightly different.

Before you get excited, trademark registration doesn’t mean Audi will build this model. I may have Audi secure the rights to the name, but won’t be using it for now. This is an interesting development and one to watch out for in the coming months. If this model is reached, the RSQ6 might put out about 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts) and 612 pound-feet (830 Newton-meters) of torque like the RS e-Tron GT.

Meanwhile, the Q6 standard will use the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture. It will be one of several models in the Volkswagen Auto Group that will use the platform. Some of the vehicles that will use the chassis include the Porsche Macan EV and Audi A6 e-Tron.
