Here’s something you’ll probably never see again: the KTM X-Bow driving on icy trails in Northern Scandinavia. This is the upcoming road-going version of the X-Bow GT2 race car. We couldn’t imagine that any buyer would drive a vehicle in slippery conditions like this, so this shot was a lot of fun.
The X-Bow GT2 looks very different from the original design of the X-Bow model, which is still part of the brand’s lineup. Most notably, there’s an enclosed cockpit, and a teaser from KTM shows that the vehicle has no doors. Instead, the windshield hinges forward to let the driver into the cockpit. The same layout exists on the X-Bow GT4 racer.

Where the regular X-Bow has a semi-open wheel design at the front where there is no bodywork covering the inner edges of the tires, this model has panels all over the exterior. The back has large swan neck wings. Snow covered the rear of this car, but the image below shows that the diffuser is under the tail.
KTM teaser for GT2 outing says it uses carbon fiber reinforced polymer body panels. Underneath, there is a carbon monocoque.
This road legal GT2 uses the same mid-mount, 2.5 liter turbocharged five-cylinder sourced from Audi as a race car. The track-only version produces 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts). However, it’s unclear if this song will make its way into a version you can license to drive on the road.
The company pairs this vehicle with a seven-speed direct-shift gearbox that drives the rear wheels. The rear axle has a limited slip differential for increased cornering traction.
KTM’s teaser says that the road-legal X-Bow GT2 is “scheduled for launch at a later date.” For now, it’s unclear when that model will arrive. However, the company occasionally offers a peek at vehicle developments on its social media channels, if you’d like to follow the process.
