In the frame of the GP of Thailand Dorna and FIM have released the provisional calendar for the 2023 MotoGP season, a year that will be full of news and includes 21 Grand Prix, as well as a slew of surprises for the fans in the stands and at home. After the introduction of the Sprint Race, further “new entries” arrive from the calendar, with the Kazakhstan and India Grand Prix, two new circuits that seem to shift the center of gravity of the World Championship towards the East.

As announced some time ago, the 2023 championship will kick off in Portimao on March 26. It will not be the classic appointment in Qatar that will open its doors for next season, given that renovation works are planned in the Losail facility, which will host the World Championship at the penultimate round on November 19, before the traditional end-of-year appointment in Valencia scheduled for on November 26, at the turn of the month of December.

21 GP, 11 on European soil. After the start in Portugal the paddock will raise its structures on the American continent to race in Argentina (April 2) and Austin (April 16), before returning to Europe on April 30 for the Jerez Grand Prix. It will then be time to turn to Le Mans (May 14), until a surprising break of about a month until Mugello GP of 11 June. Followed by Sachsenring, Assen and the first big news of 2023, the Kazakhstan GP (9 July) at the Sokol Circuit, which will take the place of the never-before-held Finnish GP.

After the race in Kazakhstan there will be the summer break and it will start again on August 6 at Silverstone. The summer events remain unchanged in Austria (20 August), Catalunya (3 September), San Marino (September 10). From here we will fly to the infamous East where an authentic tour de force will be held that will also put the logistics of the teams to a severe test.

September 24 will be the debut of the Indian GP at the Buddh Circuit, before the Japanese GP (1 October) and two fire triplets: Indonesia (15 October), Australia (22 October) and Thailand (29 October) and, after a Sunday stop, three more consecutive GPs: Malaysia (November 12), Qatar (November 19) and finally at the Ricardo Tormo in Valencia. KTM team manager Francesco Guidotti jokingly commented to the microphones of Sky Sport MotoGP: “Looking at the calendar there is little to laugh about“.
